Wildflowers

Enjoying the beautiful Spring wildflowers in Texas is definitely an example of the “less stress, more fun” lifestyle that I help my clients cultivate.

Why?

Three reasons:

#1 Wildflowers invite us to observe the details.

I think the most delightful part of wildflowers is how varied they are.

Some are tall, some are showy, some are pastel, all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Like people!

When you take time to enjoy the wildflowers, notice the exquisite details they display.

Then take this keen observation into your own life.

Start by being delighted by the delightful detail of yourself.

Spend 10 minutes looking at your hands. Set a timer — really, I’m serious!

These are the hands that allowed you to click this article. These are the hands that you use to create your profession, caress a lover, hold a child’s hand, or cook your meals.

Such beautiful, beautiful details.

#2 Wildflowers have their season. They are temporary, as are we.

Wildflowers appear in Texas springtime.

They have a season.

Each year’s wildflower season length and the intensity of the blooms depend on the winter before, the rainfall and the temperature.

Wildflower season comes and goes each year.

The fact that we get wildflowers here each Spring is predictable.

And yet…each year is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Like today.

What is happening today that is unlikely to happen ever, ever again?

What is blooming in your life that may pass, perhaps to come along again or…perhaps not?

#3 Wildflowers are playful.

Imagine a field of wildflowers.

Imagine the breeze blowing, slowly then fast then slowly again.

See in your mind’s eye the dancing petals.

See how they might bob to and fro, back and forth, shaking in a dance beneath the sun.

Imagine those wildflowers in a heavy rain or a soft drizzle.

When I was a young girl, my stepmom would say:

“Whether the weather is cold, or whether the weather is hot, we’ll be together whatever the weather, whether we like it or not!”

Then we’d laugh hilariously.

There is wisdom there.

Whether your weather is warm or cold, stormy or calm, you are here.

There is the weather outside you, life’s circumstances and situations.

And the more important weather within…what happens in your mind as you process your life events.

Curiosity and a sense of lightness work wonders for me, and for my clients who practice them.

Life is but a transient experience.

You really do get to decide how best to live it and what matters most to you.

Observe. Present. Playful.

Yes, all parts of the “Less Stress, More Fun” lifestyle and what a delightful way to live, indeed!
